The nearest hiking trail to our cabin is the one at Coker Creek Falls, and is considered moderate in difficulty. Part of the John Muir Trail, this 2.7-mile section is easy to get to and fairly easy to find.
To get there, drive south of Coker Creek Village on Highway 68 past the Old Country Store. Look for the Ironsburg Methodist Church and take a right past the church. At the first Y intersection, bear to the left at the cemetery. At the second Y, stay right. Drive about 2 miles until you get to the T-intersection and take a left. Go about a mile further to the parking area and picnic tables. The trail starts there and follows the river and falls. Great views!
The UNICOI TURNPIKE TRAIL was dedicated June 4th, 2005 after extensive work by the Coker Creek community in uncovering the lost “Trail of Tears” used in the early 1800’s during the forced Cherokee displacement to the west. Click Here to read more about Coker Creek trails.
